Overview

The Sacramento Historical Fencing Academy Youth Summer Camp offers an exciting and educational experience for children interested in history, martial arts, and adventure. Campers will explore what life was like in a Renaissance city, learning about its people, trades, and challenges while participating in hands-on activities that bring the past to life.

Throughout the camp, students will receive guided instruction in historical European martial arts, including swordplay and group exercises, all taught in a safe and structured environment. In addition to weapon training, campers will discover how cities of the past protected themselves, functioned day-to-day, and adapted to challenges like fire and war.

This program blends physical activity with interactive learning, making history fun, engaging, and memorable.

Curriculum Highlights

• Historical Weapons Training – Learn the basics of Renaissance swordplay and how different weapons were used.
• Hands-On History – Experience daily life in a Renaissance city, from bustling markets to city defenses.
• Interactive Drills – Participate in historical-style training exercises, including  (Nerf) musket drill and pike drill, where campers will work together to learn formations and commands.
• Team Challenges & Games – Work together in structured challenges that build teamwork, coordination, and confidence.

Participant Requirements

• Ages: 10-14
• Attire: Comfortable clothing suitable for physical activity.
• Lunch: Campers must bring their own lunch each day. Water and designated snack breaks will be provided.
