Weekly Themes
Knights in Training
Step back in time to the age of valor and chivalry, into the medieval world where knights were the heroes of the day. Campers will learn about the life of a European knight, their culture, and the values that defined them. They will learn about the code of chivalry, heraldry, and the role knights played in shaping European history.
Participants will receive hands-on training in the art of longsword fencing, a hallmark of knightly combat. Our instructors will guide them through the fundamentals of longsword techniques, emphasizing the principles of honor, discipline, and skill that were central to a knight's training. Campers will engage in interactive lessons about medieval arts, architecture, and daily life. More than just an class about learning to wield a sword, its an opportunity to foster a love of history and understand how the past. shapes our present.
Swashbuckler
Prepare to set sail into a world of daring escapades and elegant swordplay with our "Swashbuckler" week. step into the boots of the legendary swashbucklers – the charismatic and skilled swordsmen of the high seas and Renaissance period. Participants will dive into the exciting history of these flamboyant figures, learning about their adventures, the art of navigation, and the golden age of piracy.
Under the guidance of our skilled instructors, campers will master the rapier – the preferred weapon of swashbucklers. They'll learn the art of the quick, precise thrust and parry, developing agility, strategic thinking, and finesse. These skills are not just about combat; they are a dance of discipline and artistry. We'll explore the cultural aspects of the time, including the music, clothing, and social mores of the swashbucklers.
Jedi Apprentice Training
Embark on an interstellar adventure with our "Jedi Apprentice Training" a dream come true for those have always been captivated by the allure of space-themed fantasy. Campers will delve into a galaxy of imagination and heroism, exploring the disciplined art of lightsaber combat, a symbolic representation of the legendary space knights from popular culture. Our instructors will guide students through the graceful and strategic movements of lightsaber techniques, emphasizing control, focus, and the ethical use of power.
This thrilling week is more than just mastering the iconic lightsaber. It's a journey into a world of fantasy, where campers learn the values of courage, resilience, and wisdom. The training combines physical skills with lessons in space-themed lore, encouraging participants to develop their character and storytelling abilities.
Renaissance Soldier
Our "Renaissance Soldier" week iinvites campers to step into the shoes of a Renaissance-era soldier, a period marked by significant developments in both the arts and warfare. Participants will explore the rich tapestry of the Renaissance, learning about the pivotal historical events, influential figures, and cultural advancements that defined this remarkable era. The week is filled with hands-on experiences, including training with the sword and buckler. Our expert instructors will lead students through the fundamentals of this combat style, emphasizing technique, balance, and strategic thinking.
Beyond mastering the skills of a Renaissance soldier, campers will delve into the broader context of the time. They will learn about the art, architecture, and literature of the Renaissance, learning and understanding how the Renaissance has shaped our modern world.

Age Group and Cost
8 to 14 years old, some exceptions may be made, please contact us. Camp is limited to a maximum of 16 campers per week.
Cost: $400 per week, Includes all camp activities, training, educational materials, and daily lunch.

A Safe Training Environment
Safety Measures
At the Sacramento Historical Fencing Academy, the safety of our campers is paramount. Our Youth Summer Camp is designed with the highest safety standards in mind, ensuring a secure and enjoyable experience for all participants. Here are key aspects of our safety measures:
Specially Designed Equipment: We use padded and synthetic swords that are specifically designed for safe training. These replicas provide an authentic experience while minimizing the risk of injury.
Protective Gear: Safety in fencing is crucial. We provide fencing masks for all participants to wear during training sessions. To maintain hygiene and ensure the best fit, students are encouraged to bring their own fencing masks. Alternatively, they can purchase a mask directly from the school.
Supervised Training: All fencing activities and historical lessons are conducted under the close supervision of our experienced instructors. Our staff-to-student ratio is carefully managed to ensure personalized attention and safety. There are always a minimum of 2 staff members on site at all times.
First Aid and Emergency Protocols: Our facility is equipped with first aid kits, and our staff is trained to handle minor injuries and emergencies. We also have protocols in place to respond quickly to any situation that may arise.

The heart of our summer camp lies in the expertise and dedication of our instructors. They are not just skilled fencers but also passionate educators who bring the history and art of fencing to life.
Experienced Instructors: Our team consists of instructors with multiple years of training in historical fencing. They possess a deep understanding of various sword techniques and historical periods.
Background in Education: The program is overseen by an educator with a Master's in Education, ensuring that our curriculum is not only fun and engaging but also educational and enriching.
Commitment to Teaching Youth: Specializing in working with youth groups, our instructors know how to connect with young learners, making each lesson enjoyable and age-appropriate.
