Andrew Bradford of the Sacramento Historical Fencing Academy has been fencing since 2021 and competing at a respectable level since early 2022. Now focusing on blending the historical art of fencing into practical tournament use through modern theory, Andrew aims to help push the limits that are currently in place within the competitive scene of HEMA and help others display their favorite historic art while fencing under modern conditions and rulesets.
Competing in a wide variety of weapons like Longsword, Rapier & Dagger, Messer, and Sword and Buckler, Andrew also teaches from a mix of historical sources to best apply them to modern day tournament fencing. Longsword techniques from Johannes Liechtenauer, Joachim Meyer, Fiore dei Liberi and Philippo di Vadi all are present within Andrew's style of fencing with the goal of keeping the art alive and practical even against modern adaptations of olympic fencing.
